Pentecost 2019

Edited by Mile Webber

Littlehampton Churches Together held a “Pentecost Praise and Picnic” on Sunday afternoon the 9th of June on the Littlehampton seafront.

Pentecost – ‘the Church’s Birthday’ – is usually celebrated by Churches Together in a church, but this year (2019) it was decided to try something different.

Under threatening clouds, a 45 minute Service was held at the Stage by the Sea, attended by about 150 people in all – including some 20 folk from St Catherine’s Church and the Convent.  The worship was introduced by Tom Robson, Vicar of All Saints Wick, and led by Sam Archer and Josh Fraser, two talented members of the  King’s Village band. Mary Ag Rolph of St Catherine’s Church read the Pentecost Story from Acts 2 and Martin Garratt of Trinity Church led us in prayer.  The Service ended with prayers for the town by Becca Jupp of Arun Church.

Afterwards, some people enjoyed a picnic on the grass, while others mingled and chatted.
