Tribute for Fr Albert
CAFOD thanks us for the donations given in tribute for Fr Albert. They said that through these gifts, his love and kindness will continue to reach out across the world; and in his name more people will have access to nourishing food, clean water, safe shelter and education and training, so they can live with dignity and build a better life for themselves and their families. He remained at the heart of their work and has touched and changed many lives. His name is being put in their Book of Remembrance and they will keep him in their prayers - May he rest in peace Amen.
CAFOD World Gifts
CAFOD’S range of virtual gifts make a real difference to families living in poverty across the world. While we have the coronavirus pandemic here, we can still be good neighbours to our sisters and brothers overseas by giving World Gifts (starting at £4) as presents to our loved ones. The virtual presents will help vulnerable families abroad affected by the pandemic to protect and feed themselves. CAFOD’s World Gifts website: www.worldgifts.cafod.org.uk or phone 0808 14 000 14 (where you can also get a catalogue).
CAFOD COVID-19 Appeal
CAFOD, our Catholic Agency for Overseas Development, launched its coronavirus emergency appeal on 30 April 2020. Coronavirus (Covid-19) has now spread worldwide, with confirmed cases in many countries where CAFOD works. CAFOD says that "priests have been doing wonderful things to support this appeal, such as this moving video by Fr Chris Bergin of Bognor Regis"
The effects of coronavirus on developing countries are likely to be devastating. Many countries have very weak healthcare systems and will not be able to cope. Families without enough to eat and without access to clean water, possibly living with other diseases, will be particularly vulnerable to coronavirus.
It is not just a public health emergency. Many of the world’s most vulnerable people will lose their jobs and be unable to support their families. The poorest and most marginalised communities, working hard to transform their lives, will be pushed further into poverty.
CAFOD is adapting its programmes to help manage the risk of coronavirus in communities and working with local Church aid agencies on the frontline of this crisis. They are already working to get food to where it is needed most; to improve hygiene, handwashing and sanitation in communities and households; producing radio messages, posters and leaflets in local languages on risks and prevention; and training community volunteers to carry out awareness campaigns.
In order to continue protecting and improving the lives of those in poor communities, your prayers and gifts are needed now more than ever. While we are not able to hold collections in our church, you can donate at cafod.org.uk/coronavirusappeal Thank you.

CAFOD says:
No child should face danger getting fresh water to drink
Fabiano lives with his mum and siblings in Uganda
and dreams of becoming a doctor. But when you live in a desperately dry
village, schoolwork comes second to fetching water.
At 4am, most of us are asleep. But Fabiano, 14, walks miles to the nearest pump. He arrives home tired and dusty, washes, and goes to school. Many of his classmates don’t make it. They’re still queuing for water when the school bell rings.
Thanks to your generosity, CAFOD’s local experts were able to install a solar powered pump in Fabiano’s village and now it takes him less than four minutes to fetch water.
Across the world, millions of children walk for water every day, risking their safety and education. Imagine if it was your child or grandchild making that long, dark walk- just for clean water to drink. Please support us as we help more people like Fabiano who need our care and support.
Eat a simple meal, and give the money you have saved to CAFOD. You can do this by picking up a CAFOD envelope at the church, putting in your donation and dropping it in any collection.. Or you can go to CAFOD and contribute direct.
